Current obsession: Nude Lips

I fell in love with Kylie's lips since she became a sensation in 2015. Kylie goes by matte lippies, with an inclination towards beige and brown. After revealing that she uses Velvet Teddy by M.A.C, over the lip liner Spice, I knew that that would be my go-to colour for everyday wear.

I was never the girl with to sport nude lips. In fact, I was a little apprehensive — given that I was fair-skinned to begin with wearing beige might create a washed-out look that just... sucks. So I trawled through countless YouTube videos, watching even the most obscure of beauty gurus swatch the shade.

When Sephora had a 20 per cent sale on Black Friday I decided to finally plucked up my courage to purchase Velvet Teddy. The colour isn't very popular among Singaporean girls (yet) as compared to basic shades like Ruby Woo, but it was sold out in the States (according to YouTubers).

The verdict?

I LOVE IT. It took me a while to get used to it, but after seeing the colour dry matte on my lips, I was sold. A gentle mauve, a beige with hint of brown undertones — the Velvet Teddy looked pinkish, but still a little brown at the same time.

The look does however, require a little eye makeup. I usually just layer on mascara and tight-line my waterline for an illusion of fuller lashes. That's the same look for both pictures, just that the bottom one had Spice lip liner underneath. Eye makeup was extremely light (how I like it).

Compared to other matte lipsticks that I've tried from M.A.C, the Velvet Teddy was considerably moisturising. The formula was less drying than Ruby Woo, which was a retro matte finish, as well as Russian Red, which was also a matte finish.

As per all M.A.C lipsticks the colour stays on for at least five hours, unless you have a meal in between then maybe you'd need to touch up a little. For the actual colour to show up, it's advisable to use concealer to hide the natural colour of your lips before applying, especially if you have naturally pigmented lips. I have pale lips, so I skip that step when I'm feeling lazy haha.

I'm in fact super enthusiastic to try out browner shades — something like Whirl. On a separate note I've also decided to purchase a vampy red shade Sin.

So what do you guys think? Yay or nay? It's a yay for me!

Much love,
