K, as mentioned before, my Aunt May was supposed to bring my sis and I out for last minute Christmas shopping but I wasn't really intending to get anything. However, I had something else on my mind - Christmas cookies, for the season! It was a really good chance to get to bake good cookies 'cos Aunt May has a built-in oven specially meant for baking and stuffs like that ^^
I got the recipe off this website : http://www.squidoo.com/kiss-cookies
It's a really, really simple cookie recipe 'cos I'm really bad in the kitchen with cooking and baking etc, so yeah. Simple recipes first ! Ohoh, we edited and changed some of the ingredients 'cos they weren't available.
Anyways, the end result of our edited simple recipe was fabulicious and I decided to share the process with you people !!!!!! (This is only if I succeeded - I was afraid of burnt cookies though.)
Here goes then :
Ingredients needed:
1. Sugar cookie mix - unavailable, changed to Betty Crocker Chocolate Chip cookie mix.
2. Softened butter
3. A large egg
4. Flour
5. Food colourings
6. Peppermint extract - unavailable, changed to Vanilla Essence.
7. Hershey's Kisses!
Step 1.
- Preheat oven to 375degree F, around 190degree C.
- Measure out 15oz of cookie mix, half a cup of softened butter, 1 tablespoon of flour.
- Mix the cookie mix, softened butter, flour and egg into a mixing bowl.
- Mix until the mixture becomes a soft, smooth dough. (Preferably with an electric mixer.)
Step 2.
- After getting the dough, divide it into 2 equal portions. (Or you can divide it into as many portions as you want, depending on how many colours you want your cookie to have.)
- For the first portion, add red food colouring. Mix well.
- For the second portion, add green food colouring. Mix well. (Alternatively you could choose to have other colours of your choice; red&green's for Christmas.)
- After mixing the two portions well, add about 1~2 drops of vanilla essence to both doughs. Mix well.
Step 3.
- Here comes the difficult part! Take a teaspoon of red dough, and flaten it slightly.
- Take also a teaspoon of green dough, flaten slightly, and place it on top of the flattened red dough.
- Flip the combined dough horiontally and flatten. You'll get a new appearance of the dough - half red and half green(:
- Shape the dough into a circular shape. Try not to flatten the dough too much - it'll expand when baking.
- Line then up on neatly on cookie paper after that.
Step 4.
- Start baking !!!!!!! Bake the cookies in preheated oven for about 12 minutes.
Step 5.
- The baked cookies should expand and turn out into lovely circular shapes.
- Add an unwrapped Hershey Kiss to each cookie!
Step 6.
- Leave the cookies to cool, and that's it! Ready to serve ! (:
Perfect for any occassion, colouring and flavouring changeable, don't mind try baking it yourself (:
