My family's too lucky to be able to have gotten 4 tickets for the actual NDP 2011 from all the balloting together with millions of other Singaporeans!
My dad collected the tickets early, and that's why we got good seats! (Darkblue sector)
Making our way to the Floating Platform :)
Even wore my red Swiss Winds band tee to support them. GO SWISS WINDS!
Distribution of goodie bags - I got the Orchid design!
Thank god for the new designers of the NDP goodie bags. Remember how awful looking was the bags in the years before 2009? Finally someone decided to take the initiative to change the whole look of our goodie bags - so much better looking now!
Here's the stage from my view. Quite good view right!
A shot of moi before exploring the goodie bag!
Aha! Scratch and Win card from Mr Bean found. And I won a free pancake! LOL
Everyone's favourite during NDP - tattoos! Here's my sis helping me put on an adorable Mr Bean ♥ SG tattoo!
Tadah! All looking very adorable and SG loving.
The Singapore Flyer was also in a good position for us to snap pictures - told you we had good seats!
Lovin' this shot, instax taken by bubbly coordinators going around~
And NDP 2011 officially begins!!
4 awesome emcees for the day :)
See how excited we were?
Kickstarted the whole event with the Red Lions! Go Red Lions!
So nice not to be acrophobic..
Singapore flaunting its defence force.
Honestly speaking, I never enjoyed the first parts of the NDP shows in the past, esp the 'going through' of Singapore's defence force. But this year's put up was really entertaining and I had to keep reminding myself to not get too engrossed in the show and end up forgetting to take pictures. Heh.
Guess whose band is involved?
Wakakaka
Parade begins to march in with music accompaniment by SAF and NPCC bands and Swiss Winds.
I was quite meh about the formation. 'Cos the band was standing right smack at the back of the stage, totally blocked by all the other contingents. Like why can't they split them into 2 like last year's so that they can open up and stand at the sides? Win-Win for all contingents what. Gah the formation resulted in me unable to snap good pics of the band. Sadded.
This year's parade commander is female. Woo you go girl!
All formed up and awaiting march in of the Colours.
Not to forget arrival of our founding father, Mr Lee Kuan Yew.
Colours marching in.
And formed up for rising of our national flag.
How the whole parade currently looks like.
Majulah Singapura!
As usual, the Republic of Singapore Air Force's jetplanes flypast takes place.
21 Gun Shots taking place on water as our President inspects the parade.
Fanfare trumpeters looking smart!
And it's time for march out.
The inspection didn't take too long this year. Or maybe everything seems long when you're standing there, unable to move like how I was/felt last year. I felt like I was gonna die anytime soon. Hahah.
This year was kinda special, except for Combined Band and Colours, the rest of the contingents march right into the audience.
And the actual highlight of NDP begins!
The whole performance was being presented to us in a form of a musical, with 5 different acts portraying how SG developed from a kampong village to a modern country. It also showcased mother's love, and the growing up of her son from young till he's adult, and she passed away. Touching.
SG when it first gained independence... Dimsum, typewriters, fabrics from all over the world etc.
People from different races living harmoniously.
Son goes fishing and gets lost. O.O
Pretty Decors
Sidetrack: How do these decors appear in water and air out of nowhere? Were they actually underwater like submarines so when the time's right they float up and light up? Or were they being flown in? :O
MRT FTW
Portaying how Singapore becomes modernised, with advancement in technology and all.
As for the rest of the show, it wasn't being acted out but instead presented to us in a form of a video, showing how the guy got married, have kids, and the mother passing away. Watch In a Heartbeat MV for rough idea.
The performance was good, no? I thought that the whole show was very touching. Can't believe that some people actually commented that it was boring. Maybe it was boring on television? But trust me, the people who've been there would agree that the performance was indeed awesome; even though shorter, but muchmuch more entertaining than last year's.
AND THE WHOLE SHOW ENDED WITH FIREWORKS!!!!!!!! I was really excited about the fireworks because I knew from our sector, we could actually have the best view of the fireworks! I videoed the whole thing down, so for those who missed it (it's kinda impossible to), you actually haven't missed much :)
Go on, watch if you missed the fireworks!
Pledge Moment after the fireworks showcase.
NDP ENDED WITH A BLAST. WOO!
Shots taken with pretty background :)
Pleaseeeeeeeeee hope we get tickets for NDP 2012 as well! Hope you guys enjoyed! ^^
