Arethusa - AJC Orientation 2012!

Orientation 2012 @ AJC ended (on 8 Feb) with a blast! Especially when your house team is the overall winning team!

So basically AJC Orientation 2012 was themed Arethusa - quoted from Wikipedia, " Arethusa (Ἀρέθουσα) means "the waterer". In Greek mythology, she was a nymph and daughter of Nereus (making her a Nereid), and later became a fountain on the island of Ortygia in Syracuse, Sicily."

I honestly have no idea why and what the hell is the whole Orientation themed Arethusa, though I believe I did heard someone mentioning that Arethusa represents excellence. Whatever okay, orientations are always themed with hope, faith, excellence, fun, unity etc etc in mind.

Back to where I was... So there are 5 villages: Borax (Grey, Cheetah), Krypton (Green, Puma), Vulcanite (Yellow, Panther), Carnelian (Red, Jaguar) and Azurite (Blue, Cougar). I'm in Vulcanite and in one of Vulcanite's subgroup, Kakros.

I have to say this out loud. MY ORIENTATION GROUP IS A.W.E.S.O.M.E okay!!!! They're like 20 of us, 6 guys and 14 girls. Despite that, we're still super bonded lo! Because I know of other groups where there are also more girls than guys and the people there all just like to stick to their own gender. Well, too bad for them... 'Cos we got in the top 5 OGs!!!!

Games under the sun

Another thing is also that we're one of the OGs with a lesser number of people. Which means that bonding is easier = everyone knows each other well = can score more points in games!! :)

We learnt 3 dances too, Mass Dance with song That Girl, Couple Dance with song Mumbo No.5 (My parnter's quite cute. *Blush*) and another Mass Dance with Boriquitta. I enjoyed them all. So much better than Swiss's dances. I have never thought that I'll be able to enjoy dances but here I am going gaga over them. Okay maybe because I got to dance with a cute guy. Heh.

OHHGEE 34, KAH-KROS!

Orientation finale was FANTASTIC as well. We had to play finale games to earn extra points and also to create a mascot for Vulcanite. Damn, I got into making the mascot thingy. I know I might seem like a pig but frankly speaking I would rather prefer to play games to earn points. All those mascot making whatever was pretty boring :/

This is a CAMEL. Not a tortoise.

Someone suggested aa camel 'cos Vulcanite has the 'desert' meaning within it. So camel. Then the humps. Another person suggested having volcanoes, to symbolise overpowering power. Then someone from my group of friends there suggested that one of the humps to be a pyramid.
Know why? 'Cos making a pyramid out of the rubbish, yes, it was literally rubbish, except that they were recycled rubbish, was wayyyyyyyy easier than making a volcano LOL. No specific reason to why a pyramid.. *Slackers x1382974823*

Nicholas! He's from Victoria School and his personality is somewhat like Leon. Have I ever mentioned how much AJC and it's people remind me of Swiss?

With the new girlfriends I made! From left: Elizabeth, Ke Xin and Zhe Ching. My class is filled with pretty girls, I know, I know :)

The OGLs danced for us during the finale!! I have no idea how can they dance so well. I have two left feet and two left hands :(

OGLs: Emilie, Wang Ling and Benjamin!

They gave each of us a gift and a personalised handwritten note. Mentioned in the note: "We love your enthuness!" AWWWWWWWWWWWWW~

Ending off with one last group picture taken after the finale - Thank god my lovely new classmates are all not camera shy. More photos in the future!!!!!

Which reminds me... My class now has 17 people only. 3 of them changed their subject combi and they had to be transferred out. And in case you're wondering... My subject combi is as such:

H1 Maths
H2 History
H2 English Literature
H2 Economics

All in all, I'm hoping for the best in the future with my current awesome class now! Hope you guys enjoyed your JC Orientation as much as I did (if you are JC student), if not............ Well hope you guys enjoyed my orientation then. Hehe :)

P.S/ AND JUST TO CLARIFY, ARTS STUDENTS ARE DEFINITELY NOT LACKING IN INTERLLECTUAL CAPACITY AS COMPARED TO SCIENCE STUDENTS. 90% of us ARE eligible for the Science stream, it's just that we chose not to take it because Arts and Humanities are more suited for our learning abilities and interests. We did not take Arts just because we couldn't get into the Science stream. Get this right LOL.

P.S// The birdie that I found is surviving well now! It chirps each time I go near it to feed it or to play with it. I feel like giving it a name. Like Chirpy or something. Any suggestions? :)
